The Coastal Journal is a free weekly publication serving towns from Freeport to Camden. The Coastal Journal has been part of Midcoast Maine's social and cultural scene since 1966. The paper offers an eclectic mix of feature stories, local news briefs, recipes, health tips, guest columns and an extensive arts & enrichment section. Our Coastal Calendar, that appears in every issue, covers a variety of local events and happenings, ranging from music, theater, exhibits, club meetings and fairs.
The paper is published on Thursdays and is available at retailers and in news boxes throughout the region. It is also inserted in the Portland Press Herald for the Midcoast region.
The Coastal Journal, serving the Route One corridor from Freeport to Camden, and the Peninsulas from Harpswell to Owls Head often referred to as "The Midcoast", exists to serve residents and visitors, workers, business owners, retirees and children, by providing information. That information is intended to fascinate, illuminate, amuse, incite and emote. We further aim to help citizens expand their appreciation of what is extraordinary about their own villages, as well as this area as a whole, in an effort to strengthen our local economy while simultaneously preserving what is remarkable about our region.
